If you have been cultivating cannabis for some time now, then you are probably familiar with what to do when your pot seeds germinate. However, many beginners do not quite understand how and what germination does for cannabis cultivation. In fact, many first time growers do not fully understand how cannabis seeds grow faster. This is understandable since it is something that you gain with experience. But we are here to help people understand a little more about the marijuana seed.

Cannabis seeds can be distinguished as male and female plants. Knowing how to distinguish the two is a crucial part of marijuana growing. For marijuana growers, having seedless female plants in their crops is what they want. You see, female plants are the ones that contain high levels of THC and CBD. Basically, these are the plants that produce buds that are good for smoking. Male plants, on the other hand, are quite useless unless you want to produce the best marijuana seeds. They also increase the risk of pollinating female plants.

Pollination means that female plants go on to produce seeds as well, which is a bad sign. This is why the two types of plants are separated as soon as possible. A cannabis plant’s gender can be determined as early as the pre-flower stage of a seed.

Next, the germination of a plant is also an important thing to know. This is the process where seeds develop into plants. It indicates that seeds are healthy and mature enough to be planted. Proper germination increases the chances of sprouting high-quality buds. It is a crucial process in making sure that your marijuana plants have high yields and successful harvests. Before germinating plants, however, you must know that your seeds are ready. Pay close attention to their appearance. This is a good indicator of your seeds being ready to germinate. They must have a dark color, usually a shade of solid brown. The firmness of the seed also indicates that it is mature enough. Avoid germinating pale-colored seeds that are soft to the touch.

When To Germinate Pot Seeds

Here is a simple guide that can help marijuana growers on how to germinate marijuana seeds. This is a relatively easy process. This makes it an ideal method of germination for beginner growers.

Step 1:

Soak your marijuana seeds in a cup full of bottled spring water. The water must be at room temperature. Leave them there for about 15-18 hours. Make sure to take them out after this time to avoid the seeds from drowning.

Step 2:

Take a wide paper towel and place it on a plate. Take two (2) more paper towels and place them on top of each other on the plate.

Step 3:

Take the cup containing your marijuana seeds and pour them onto the paper towels. Cover the seeds with the paper towels by folding them. Make sure to remove any excess water to avoid drowning the seeds.

Step 4:

Place this in a dark and spacey room. The temperature inside must lean towards the warm side. Do not place them inside an enclosed area. This can deprive the seeds of air circulation. They must be allowed to breathe. Periodically keep the paper towels moist by adding water.

Step 5:

After 4-7 days, you may notice the seeds to crack open. They will then sprout tiny tap roots. Wait for these to reach a height of ½ inches before planting in a growing medium.

What is the importance of germinating weed seeds?

Germination is the first step in successfully growing cannabis plants. The moisture taken by the seeds from the germination process helps the seeds stay healthy. It also reduces the chances of the seeds rotting or developing molds. When germinating, it is important to wait for the taproots to sprout up before transplanting to a growing pot. Germinating seeds also help strengthen the root system of a cannabis plant. They get to absorb more water and nutrients which help them maintain their potency when they are fully grown.

Germination is a common practice among marijuana growers. It is an additional step to ensure your plants grow to be healthy. It is also a very easy process that requires little effort. Germination of marijuana seeds goes a long way in cultivating your marijuana plants.

Germination is a very beneficial step in the marijuana cultivation process. Though it is not necessary, many marijuana growers do it. This is because it is a very simple task. It also ensures your cannabis plants to produce healthy and potent buds. Germination increases the chance of a high yield rate. Going the extra mile to germinate your seeds before planting them can make a big difference. It is truly worth the extra time and effort. Many marijuana seed shops offer weed seeds that have already been germinated. This is also a great choice. However, if you want to experience the full process of growing cannabis plants, then germinating your own seeds is a great way to do that.
