Indica

Many members of the marijuana community develop a special understanding of the different types of cannabis plants. In fact, it is quite an important aspect of marijuana growing. Distinguishing the different traits and characteristics of cannabis plants is very useful when you are deciding what strains to smoke or cultivate. You see, indica and sativa plants have a set of unique features that set them apart from each other. In this article, we discuss the cannabis indica plant, one of the most famous and well-known varieties of cannabis plants.

Indica Background:

It is widely believed that most of the indica strain in the market today originated from Asian countries. Some of the places that are famous for indica strains are India, Nepal, and of course Afghanistan. Because of such, indica strains may seem foreign and less common to marijuana users in European and American countries. However, this has caused its popularity to increase. You see, many people prefer sampling marijuana strains that are unique to them. Indica strains have been in high demand ever since a number of countries legalized the recreational and medical use of cannabis.

Cultivation and Appearance:

One of the most obvious ways of differentiating cannabis plants is by their appearance. Indica plants, as compared to Sativa strains, are shorter in structure. The average height of an indica plant reaches up to 2 meters. This makes them more ideal for indoor growing because they require less ceiling room than sativa plants. Additionally, indica plants also display marijuana leaves that are broader, wider, and more compact. The branches of indica plants also feel sturdier and denser, capable of withstanding fairly strong winds. As for the color, Indicas usually display darker hues of green.

In addition to this, indica plants also have shorter flowering periods which last an average of 7 to 8 weeks for strains. As for the growing conditions, there really is no definitive between sativas and indicas. Growing conditions may vary between strains and not cannabis types.

Indica Strain Effects:

Beginner marijuana users may find it difficult to differentiate the effects of indica and sativa plants. However, indica strains do in fact have varying effects and benefits. In fact, studies have been conducted in order to help understand the way indica strains affect the mind and body when being smoked or consumed.

Indica strains are known to carry high levels of cannabinoids in their plants and buds. This may explain why indica highs are considered to be powerful and very trippy. You see, indica plants provide effects that mainly focus on physical rather than cerebral highs.

Some of the most common effects associated with smoking indica strains are dry eyes and chapped lips, relaxing and heavy-headed vibes, as well as calming to the muscles and joints. In effect, most people would describe the effects of indica strains as being “stoned” rather than “high”. As such, many indica are capable of putting you into a couch-lock state that glues you to your bed for long hours. Do not expect euphoric and energizing feelings when smoking indica buds. Instead, it would most likely cause you to feel drowsy and lazy.
